Shawn Rao has had an entrepreneurial spirit ever since he was a teenager. In junior high, he would mow lawns and reinvest the money in a candy business, in which he would sell to fellow classmates. Shawn knew at an early age the importance of a good return on investment. After being named valedictorian in high school, he then graduated from the University of Texas with honors.
Shawn then entered into the corporate world of management strategy consulting and investment banking at some of the most prestigious firms in the world, but something didn’t feel right. At 25 Shawn took the leap and left corporate America behind and ventured out on his own.
Rao Capital and its subsidiaries in the last 15 years have participated in numerous real estate developments, multi-family acquisitions, hospitality projects, and healthcare startups. Total transactional volume has been over 200 million with a consistent solid ROIC to investors consistently over 20 percent annually.
Rao Capital's future includes having $1 billion AUM and development, and $10 billion in transactional volume by 2030.
Shawn’s free time consists of hanging out with his wife Reva and their son Jaden. He is an avid sports fan and was a nationally ranked tennis player; although his golf game still needs considerable work.
